The Cheatham County School District has named Tammie Smith as the new academic specialist at Sycamore Middle School beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.
Smith is replacing Rachel Long, who is moving into the district’s elementary academic coordinator position.
She has taught for 10 years at Cheatham Middle School – four years seventh-grade ELA, four years eighth-grade ELA, and two years as the RTI Interventionist.
Smith earned her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with a Cognate in English and a master's degree in education in Reading -Reading Specialist from Austin Peay State University. She recently finished her Ed. S in Educational Leadership, Principalship from Arkansas State University.
"I am so thankful for the opportunity to be the academic specialist at Sycamore Middle School. I have truly enjoyed all my years at CMS, but I am so excited to start this new journey. I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of SMS's staff, students, and families,” she said.
